Remote Surveillance Trailer in Ventura, CA

Businesses like yours that exist in today's commercial landscape have to navigate a litany of complex security challenges that go beyond their property and premises. We're talking about criminals intent on trespassing, theft, squatting, vandalism, and more. Unfortunately, conventional security efforts are often underwhelming and ineffective in managing modern risks. That's because traditional systems are reactive, not proactive, by nature. That means they're designed to respond to criminal acts after they've happened. Typical responses from these systems include sounding alarms and notifying the authorities - but only after trespassers are on-site. This type of response leads to unnecessary false alarms and frustratingly slow police response times, giving criminals the opportunity to escape with sensitive assets, data, and more.

Mr. Security Camera was founded to address these shortcomings by offering business owners like you proactive, comprehensive security solutions you can count on. With innovative tools like a remote surveillance trailer in Ventura, CA, you can get ahead of security breaches, deter potential criminals from committing crimes, and solidify the overall safety of your property without having to rely on outdated security models. By focusing on prevention and lightning-fast response times, we help make peace of mind plentiful for today's most successful property owners and managers.

A major heat wave hit Southern California on Thursday, with temperatures soaring far above normal for this time of year, smashing records in Ventura County and bringing a high risk of heat-related illness.

A heat advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday along a stretch of coastal Southern California from San Diego County to San Luis Obispo County.

The unseasonable heat will weaken slightly over the weekend and then dial up to scalding again next week, according to the National Weather Service.

“Given the unprecedented length and magnitude of this extreme heat wave, heat stress will be increasing each day, especially in areas that aren’t used to the heat, like the coastal areas, where people may not have methods to cool off their homes,” the weather service warned Wednesday. “Try to complete outdoor activities early in the day or in the evening, and don’t leave people or pets in cars.”

By Thursday afternoon, highs had climbed 15 to 25 degrees above normal.

At 3 p.m., Oxnard had reached 94 degrees, significantly passing the 86-degree record set in 2015, while Camarillo had reached 93 degrees, breaking the 89-degree record set in the same year, according to the weather service. Long Beach hit 92 degrees, tying the record set in 2007.

A lack of meaningful onshore wind flow means the heat will persist for several days — and that people will not be able to find much relief from toasty temperatures along the coastline.

Though people may be eager to jump in the ocean in the coming days, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a warning Wednesday telling people to avoid the water at several beaches due to high bacteria levels.

Affected areas include the Santa Monica Pier; Mothers Beach in Marina del Rey; near the creek and the Pulga Canyon storm drain at Will Rogers State Beach; near the restrooms at Leo Carrillo State Beach; near the Pico-Kenter storm drain at Santa Monica Beach; and near the Castlerock storm drain at Topanga County Beach.

Public health officials are also warning people to seek medical help for signs of heatstroke or heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, nausea, rapid heartbeat, confusion or passing out.

“Heat causes more deaths in the U.S. annually than floods, storms, and lightning combined,” Muntu Davis, Los Angeles County’s health officer, said in a statement. “Those most likely to get ill during the heat include older adults, young children, outdoor workers, athletes, and individuals with chronic medical conditions.”

Temperatures will cool slightly along the coastline on Friday but remain high inland, and most areas of Los Angeles can expect temperatures in the 80s to mid-90s. Weak onshore flows will then return Saturday, which, combined with a weakening high pressure system, are expected to bring five to 10 degrees of cooling to the coasts and valleys but little change across interior sections, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will start to tick up again Sunday, and forecasters said heat advisories may be needed for some coastal valley areas.

Then, a fresh round of very hot conditions will sweep into Southern California next week, peaking on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the weather service anticipates issuing additional heat advisories from Tuesday through Thursday, and possibly excessive heat warnings in some areas.

Once again, temperatures are expected to be at least 15 to 25 degrees above normal, with warm overnight lows and more daily temperatures broken.

Next week’s heat wave will not only strike the Southland, but also extend across much of California and the Southwest, with temperatures above 100 degrees possible in desert areas of Southern California and Nevada, according to the weather service.

This second sizzling week may even put monthly temperature records in jeopardy — particularly in Sacramento, San Jose, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

The persistent heat will dry out vegetation and increase the chance of fires in grass-dominated areas that greened up after the plentiful rains this winter. Fortunately, the hot spell will not come with a widespread risk of fire weather thanks to the record-breaking soaking the Southland endured over the holiday season and the lack of significant winds.

However, if similar warm, dry periods continue throughout the summer with no more rainfall, it could set the stage for an active fire season come fall, according to the weather service.

Times staff writer Grace Toohey contributed to this report.

Pop star Britney Spears was arrested in California early Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to Ventura County jail records, marking another legal flashpoint for the singer more than four years after a California judge ended her long-running conservatorship.

The Grammy-winning performer, 44, was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol late Wednesday, March 4, in Ventura County, inmate records show. She was booked around 3 a.m. Thursday and released shortly after 6 a.m.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and Spears’ representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Arrest adds to California legal history

Spears’ arrest unfolded in Ventura County, where the singer has maintained a residence in recent years, and places her once again at the center of a legal proceeding in California — the same state that oversaw her controversial conservatorship for more than a decade.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge terminated the conservatorship in November 2021, ending a legal arrangement that began in 2008 and placed control of Spears’ personal and financial affairs largely in the hands of her father, Jamie Spears. The case became a flashpoint for national debate over conservatorship laws and celebrity autonomy.

Spears was 39 when the court dissolved the conservatorship, which followed a highly publicized period of personal struggles that played out in Southern California under intense paparazzi scrutiny.

Career largely on pause since conservatorship ended

Since regaining control of her affairs, Spears has largely stepped back from the music industry, despite remaining one of pop’s most recognizable figures. Her last studio album, “Glory,” was released in 2016, before the conservatorship ended.

She has released a limited number of collaborations in recent years, including “Hold Me Closer” with Elton John in 2022 and “Mind Your Business” with will.i.am in 2023.

Spears last toured in 2018 with the Piece of Me Tour, which followed her Las Vegas residency and included stops across North America and Europe. The tour grossed more than $54 million, according to industry reports.

‘Never’ performing again in the U.S., Spears said

In a January Instagram post, Spears said she would “never” perform in the United States again, citing “extremely sensitive reasons,” while suggesting the possibility of future performances overseas.

“But I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair … performing with my son in the UK and Australia very soon,” she wrote, without providing additional details.

It was not immediately clear whether the Ventura County arrest would result in formal charges. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has not publicly confirmed receipt of the case.

Pop star Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Wednesday night in Southern California, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said.

According to Ventura County inmate records, Spears, 44, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol at 9:28 p.m. on Wednesday and released at 6:07 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers said they received a report about a speeding car on the southbound 101 Freeway. When they located the car, officers said Spears appeared to be impaired and submitted to field sobriety tests before being arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Investigators are waiting for chemical test results.

In a statement to CBS News, a representative for Spears referred to the incident as "unfortunate" and "completely inexcusable."

"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life," the representative said. "Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

In a January post to her Instagram account, which was deactivated following her arrest, Spears said she would "never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons."

Spears last took to the stage in 2018 for her "Piece of Me" tour, which came a decade into the singer's court-appointed conservatorship that spawned the #FreeBritney movement. A Los Angeles judge ended the conservatorship in 2021 following a legal battle launched by the pop star.

Since then, Spears has largely used Instagram to communicate with fans, frequently posting solo videos of herself dancing. Spears' memoir, "The Woman in Me," was published in 2023.

A former star of "The Mickey Mouse Club," Spears' 1999 debut album, "...Baby One More Time," and 2000 follow-up, "Oops!... I Did It Again," were diamond certified by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling more than 10 million records each.

Spears is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.

This is a developing story.

Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol (DUI) in Ventura, Calif., PEOPLE can confirm.

According to records from the Ventura Sheriff's Office, Spears, 44, was placed under arrest on the evening of Wednesday, March 4. She was released early in the morning on Thursday, March 5. The arrest was listed as a "cite and release" with no probation.

A law enforcement source told PEOPLE that Spears' arrest was on suspicion of a DUI, which the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Moorpark Area later confirmed.

According to a press release issued by Public Information Officer Ryan Ayers Thursday, a "black BMW 430i was reported to the CHP’s Ventura Communications Center for driving erratically at a high rate of speed" and was pulled over. "The solo occupant, Ms. Spears, showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests."

She "was subsequently arrested for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 23152(g), driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol" and booked.

The CHP says the incident is still under investigation and that chemical test results are pending.

TMZ was the first to report the news.

"She's very emotional and regretful this morning," a source tells PEOPLE.

Spears is due to appear in court for the incident on May 4.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable," a representative for Spears tells PEOPLE in a statement. "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

The rep adds, "Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being."

Spears shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

Spears, whose social media videos have garnered a lot of online attention, also seemingly dectivated her Instagram sometime this week.

This arrest comes amid years of highs and lows for the singer. In November 2021 Spears' 13-year conservatorship was terminated by an L.A. county judge. Last month, PEOPLE confirmed that Spears sold her music catalog. It is unclear how much she was paid for her music.

Spears has recently been very outspoken about how she feels she was treated by her family, including dad Jamie, 73, mom Lynne, 70, and sister Jamie Lynn, 34. In a February Instagram post, she called out her family, without directly naming anyone.

"For those of you in your family that have said to help you is to isolate you and make you feel unbelievably left out … they were wrong. We can forgive as people but u don’t ever forget," Spears wrote at the time. "Yearning and longing for contact is always crucial !!!"

Spears added that she believes she is “incredibly lucky to even be alive with how my family treated me once in my life and now I’m scared of them."
