Remote Surveillance Trailer in South Lake Tahoe, CA

Businesses like yours that exist in today's commercial landscape have to navigate a litany of complex security challenges that go beyond their property and premises. We're talking about criminals intent on trespassing, theft, squatting, vandalism, and more. Unfortunately, conventional security efforts are often underwhelming and ineffective in managing modern risks. That's because traditional systems are reactive, not proactive, by nature. That means they're designed to respond to criminal acts after they've happened. Typical responses from these systems include sounding alarms and notifying the authorities - but only after trespassers are on-site. This type of response leads to unnecessary false alarms and frustratingly slow police response times, giving criminals the opportunity to escape with sensitive assets, data, and more.

Mr. Security Camera was founded to address these shortcomings by offering business owners like you proactive, comprehensive security solutions you can count on. With innovative tools like a remote surveillance trailer in South Lake Tahoe, CA, you can get ahead of security breaches, deter potential criminals from committing crimes, and solidify the overall safety of your property without having to rely on outdated security models. By focusing on prevention and lightning-fast response times, we help make peace of mind plentiful for today's most successful property owners and managers.

A premier ski resort in South Lake Tahoe is being sued after an employee’s “malicious” conduct led a five-year-old girl to suffer nasty burns from a served hot chocolate.

Brittany Burns and Joshua Moran Burns filed the lawsuit in a California superior court last year against the Heavenly Mountain Resort, accusing the getaway of negligence, according to court records, seeking damages for medical expenses and mental suffering.

A complaint reported by the San Francisco Chronicle stated the Burns brought their daughter to the resort for a day of skiing two years ago.

Instead, the daughter ended up with burns and scars all over her body, Roger Dreyer, an attorney for the family, told the Chronicle.

“She suffered bad burns down her chest and abdomen,” Dreyer said. “Now she has permanent scars.”

According to the lawsuit, the family ordered hot chocolate from a resort’s Sky Deck cafe during a ski break.

The cashier, after topping the drink with whipped cream, slid the hot chocolate across the window counter to the girl without a lid.

The daughter attempted to pick the drink up but it was “excessively and unnecessarily hot.” She ended spilling the drink into her ski suit, trapping the scalding liquid against her body.

The resort “knew and should have known that such hot beverages posed a great hazard of causing just this type of incident and injuries, including burns and/or other related injuries,” the complaint said.

The California Post reached out to Dreyer for comment. Vail Resorts Management Company told the Post it was unable to comment.

The case echoes other notable cases involving hot drinks that gained some prominence nationwide. Last year, Starbucks paid $50 million to a man whose genitals were severely burned after a hot tea spilled in his lap at a California drive-through.

Two San Joaquin Valley cities have now experienced their earliest 90 degrees day on record.

Temperatures are shattering records across the West this week.

Many cities in Northern California have set new daily record high temperatures each of the past four days.

Sacramento reached a high temperature of 87 degrees Thursday. This easily breaks the previous record of 81 degrees set in 2015. Modesto's high temperature of 88 degrees cleared the previous daily record of 87 set in 1960.

Stockton's high of 90 degrees on Thursday is a new daily record high seven degrees. It also breaks the March monthly record high which the city just broke on Wednesday. This is the earliest occurrence of a 90 degree day in Stockton's recorded history.

Modesto and South Lake Tahoe both also set new all-March high temperatures on Wednesday. South Lake Tahoe's high of 76 degrees Wednesday also ties the all-April record high.

Sacramento tied the all-March record with a high of 88 degrees Wednesday. Thursday was slightly cooler with a high of 87.

Below is a summary of the other records observed so far as well as the forecast from the KCRA 3 weather team.

Tracking record highs

Record-breaking temperatures began rolling in last weekend.

Sacramento reached 80 degrees for the first time in 2026 on Sunday, March 15th. The high was 82 degrees, which tied the daily record high set in 2007. On average, Sacramento reaches 80 degrees for the first time on April 4.

Monday's high temperature broke a record for Sacramento. The National Weather Service reported a high of 84 degrees on March 16th. The previous record was 83 degrees in 2007.

Tuesday brought more widespread record heat to Northern California. San Francisco, Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto and South Lake Tahoe all broke daily records according to the National Weather Service.

Stockton's high of 87 degrees on Tuesday tied the city's all-March record high. That record was then broken on Wednesday when the high temperature hit 89 degrees.

Sacramento is also likely to set a new record for the highest number of 80 degree days in March. The current record is 7 days. The forecast currently calls for at least 8.

Daily record highs are possible through Sunday in the Valley and Tahoe area.

Summerlike forecast

This week's weather pattern is dominated by an area of high pressure that's more typical of summer than early spring. This strong high is centered right over the desert Southwest Thursday. It will move further away from Northern California and weaken during the next few days. This will allow temperatures to gradually decrease.

Next week will feel cooler by comparison, but Valley high temperatures will still be well above normal for late March. Sacramento's normal highs are in the upper 60s next week. The forecast calls for highs in the upper 70s. The Foothills will see high temperatures in the mid 70s. Sierra temperatures will ease back into the mid 60s but morning temperatures may stay above freezing.

The role of climate change

Warm, dry spells aren't unusual this time of year in Northern California. But this prolonged stretch of record heat will be unprecedented in terms of modern record keeping.

That's due in large part to the effects of global climate change. According to data published by NASA, Earth's global average temperature has been increasing since the Industrial Revolution. The rate of that increase has nearly doubled in the past 50 years.

When large scale warming happens in the background, our hottest days become hotter and our cold days become less cool. Just in the past six years, Sacramento's Executive Airport has recorded 61 record high temperatures but only 6 record low temperatures.

Said another way, climate change is putting a finger on the scale for high temperature records. And it's making them more likely in the future.

The group Climate Central has a model called the Climate Shift Index. It tracks the influence of global warming on major weather events. According to the Climate Shift Index, this week's heat in the Four Corners region is 5 times more likely to occur in the future because of global temperature increases over the past 50 years.

The climate science community is in strong agreement that increases in global temperatures are mostly being driven by human greenhouse gas emissions.

Riva Grill’s St. Patrick’s Day Treasure Hunt – South Lake Tahoe

For its second week, the quest to find hidden gold while shopping at local businesses around South Lake Tahoe continues. Riva Grill leprechauns have hidden these bags of gold at the businesses listed below:

Thatyana Allen, Group Sales and Marketing Manager at Riva Grill, started the event last year with the hopes of giving back to the community through supporting fellow Tahoe businesses.

“Each business received four golden bags, and in them, you’ll find three gold coins that are good to trade for a free Wet Woody. In one of them is a $50 gift card to Riva Grill,” said Allen. “The guest that finds the gold has to show proof of purchase at that business in order to retrieve the prize.”

Make sure to post a photo tagging Riva Grill and the business you found the gold at to show off your amazing treasure hunting skills and keep the momentum going.

Whether you’re just visiting or you live here, the pursuit for treasure will continue until the 17th of March, so get to hunting while you still can, and support local businesses in South Lake Tahoe this St. Patrick’s Day!

Friday kicks off celebrations in the evening which will feature samples and giveaways in their Bushmills promotion.

Saturday and Sunday will offer traditional Irish tunes by Kieth Shannon from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., “We will have a Guinness promotion featuring the “ripple machine,” which allows guests to have their faces printed on the foam of their pint,” said Rogers.

Kieth returns with Dan Shannon on Tuesday, March 17 for another bout of live music from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and in the evening, DJ John Patrick will bust out some popular Irish beats.
