Puyallup knew Lake Washington could shoot the three. The defensive gameplan coming into Saturday night’s Class 4A state tournament regional game at Bellevue College, in fact, was to limit open looks for the Kangs from deep.

Sometimes plans go awry.

Lake Washington knocked down eight 3-pointers in the second half and 11 total, running away from Puyallup, 72-56.

“We were trying to limit threes,” Puyallup senior forward Will Nasinec said. “We had a hard time with that.”

Credit to Lake Washington’s offense, a methodical system of top-of-key screens and backdoors designed to create mismatches and too often on Saturday — wide-open shots.

“You’ve gotta give them credit, they’re really good at what they do,” Puyallup coach Kevin Olson said.

Lake Washington, the No. 3 seed in the state tournament, has several players capable of putting the ball in the hoop from anywhere on the floor.

Scrappy junior guard Jayden Hunt scored a game-high 24 points, forward Mateo Cummings scored 20 and hit four 3-pointers and guard Hunter Phipps scored 19, knocking down four 3-pointers in the second, three of which came in quick succession to bury Puyallup.

“We started gambling, not making good decisions, too many open shots and they’re a great shooting team,” Nasinec said.

Nasinec was the bright spot for sixth-seeded Puyallup, pouring in a team-high 23 points.

“Will’s a tremendous player and doing a great job but we can’t stand around and watch,” Olson said. “There were some opportunities for us to cut to the basket, move around, create some options for him to pass to. We didn’t get that done.”

Mason Sonntag added 10 for the Vikings but it was otherwise tough sledding for the Puyallup offense.

It’s not all bad news. Since both teams were in the top eight of the regional round seeding, both will advance to the 4A state tournament next week at the Tacoma Dome. With the win, Lake Washington earns a bye into Thursday’s quarterfinal round, while Puyallup will have to play in Wednesday’s opening round.

It’s familiar territory for Olson.

“I’ve never won a game in regionals,” said Olson, who is winless in the round at Puyallup and Decatur, his previous coaching stop.

But Olson is 5-1 on Wednesdays at the Tacoma Dome.

“So there’s a positive,” he said, smiling. “We’re gonna look forward to that.”

Last year, Puyallup lost in the regional round and ended up advancing all the way to the 4A state championship game, where it lost to Gonzaga Prep.

“Sometimes, when we played last year, we felt like we built momentum for the next few games, so we feel confident,” Nasinec said. “We still feel like we’re fine. We’re gonna make something happen in the Dome.”

The Brief

PUYALLUP, Wash. - Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies say they arrested a man for reckless driving after he disregarded a school official and drove through a crosswalk while kids were in the street.

According to investigators, the driver, 34-year-old Kohl Winters, should not have even been behind the wheel. Sheriff’s officials said Kohl already had a suspended license.

"He clearly is a risk to the students on campus," said Deputy Carley Cappetto with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened on Feb. 10 at Glacier View Junior High School in Puyallup.

Deputies arrested Winters for reckless driving as well as driving while suspended.

Video from inside the car, posted by the sheriff’s office, shows the suspect cursing out the crossing guard.

In the video, you can hear the driver say, "Shut the **** up. There was no one crossing. I have video."

The sheriff’s office also released body camera footage of deputies arresting Winters the following day.

In the video, the suspect refuses to get out of his car and argues with deputies. After several warnings, a deputy smashes open the suspect’s window, takes him out of the car, and arrests him.

Cappetto tells FOX 13 Seattle there have been several incidents at Pierce County schools this year which could easily have been avoided.

"This year we’ve had four incidents where we've had students be hit by a vehicle either in a crosswalk or on school campus," she said.

Cappetto tells FOX 13 Seattle that thankfully, none of the students were seriously injured.

Disregarding a school crossing guard, or driving through a crosswalk with students in it could lead to a reckless driving charge, Cappetto tells FOX 13 Seattle.

The suspect, Winters, tells FOX 13 Seattle he cannot comment on the incident due to the current legal case.

Another day, another Karen, and this time around, she’s a real estate agent who apparently prefers her white picket fence neighborhood free of renters or US Marines. The Karen, a suburban woman from Washington, was unfortunately caught on video harassing the renter with the help of her husband. Her actions resulted in a rather messy termination from her real estate job.

The incident occurred in late February 2026 in Puyallup, Washington. In the video, you can see the woman, identified as Chrissy Bartlett, deriding a US Marine (the cameraman), with the help of her husband. It appears Chrissy initially wanted a verbal confrontation only, but her husband charged in and pushed the US Marine, afterward yelling, “I’m so [expletive] tired of your [expletive], get the [expletive] out of my neighborhood.”

Chrissy then supposedly shifted the blame to the US Marine, claiming, “But you were antagonizing [him].” After further exchange between the two, the Washington woman finally reveals what she wants, “Just [expletive] move, nobody wants you here!… You’re a nuisance, you got your [expletive] macaras [maracas]…” then further reinforcing her supposed leverage against the US Marine who was just renting, by saying, “My brother’s an attorney!”

It appears the US Marine filming might also be of Hispanic descent, which is why the Washington woman was accusing her of being a nuisance with his “maracas” and loud music. It’s not clear what led to the altercation, though the couple were clearly annoyed with the renter and wanted him out of the neighborhood.

Since Chrissy was wearing her work jacket, people online quickly identified her office, Terrafin Real Estate, and she has since been fired from the real estate company on February 23. Meanwhile, Chrissy’s husband, Chris, was also let go from Terrafin. The US Marine also mentioned that the couple “reeked of alcohol,” meaning there could be a DUI case against them if proven true, as they were driving around the neighborhood.

In another clip, Chrissy can also be seen and heard asking the US Marine, “Are you a liberal?” repeatedly, leading to assumptions from viewers and commenters that she’s a Trump or MAGA supporter, while others were no doubt labeling her as a Karen, “I just knew they were Trump’s supporters. They always act like they own the world and can tell everybody else what to do,” says a TikTok commenter.

Regardless, it appears many viewers are itching to dish out more punishment to the Washington woman, as they kept pointing out the couple’s potential crimes caught on camera, “Notice how not once, did they deny the drinking and driving comments.” Another commenter hoped, “Please tell me the couple got charged. Because that’s just insanity.”
