The Mother Hips have firmed up some details regarding their annual holiday shows. This year’s celebration will take place at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall from December 19-21 and each concert will feature something special. On Friday, December 19, the Bay Area group will honor the 30th anniversary of their sophomore album, 1995’s Part-Timer Goes Full, by performing the 14-song album in its entirety. The next day the Elliott Peck Band will open while The Mother Hips will close at the celebration on Sunday with a special 1pm matinee performance. AJ Lee & Jan Purat will supply support duties for that final show. A three-show ticket option is available. The holiday shows follow a brief swing through Colorado from December 11-13, touching down in Colorado Springs, Denver and Nederland.

The Mother Hips have also confirmed their first round of 2026 dates, taking them through the West Coast in February. Those stops include appearances at Harlow’s in Sacramento, CA (2/20), Crystal Bay Casino Lake Tahoe in Crystal Bay, NV (2/21), The Ruins in Hood River, OR (2/26), Mississippi Studios in Portland, OR (2/27) and Tractor Tavern in Seattle, WA (2/28).

The Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) Connect microtransit service in Incline Village and Crystal Bay will end on December 11 due to a lack of stable, long-term funding.

The on-demand, curb-to-curb shuttle program has provided more than one million rides across the North Lake Tahoe region since its launch in 2021 in an effort to cut down on traffic, pollution and parking concerns. Organizers say 65% of the TART Connect ridership is full-time residents.

While Zone 3 operations will stop service on December 11, TART Connect services will continue on the California side of North Lake Tahoe and Truckee, where Placer County and the Town of Truckee have dedicated funds through its own Tourism Business Improvement District.

Funding for TART Connect in Nevada has long relied on a patchwork of short-term commitments from multiple organizations, without a consistent, ongoing revenue stream. Funding has come from numerous Nevada sources, including Washoe County, RTC Washoe, Travel North Tahoe Nevada, the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, the Tahoe Fund, and the League to Save Lake Tahoe.

Authorities say declining tourism is affecting the amount of reinvestment funds available for TART Connect’s Zone 3 service and other transportation and community programs. Recent data shows total room revenue in Washoe Tahoe was down 30% and rooms occupied down 18% compared to 2024.

“Delivering transit options like TART Connect requires dependable revenue, and while we explored many avenues, including legislation to create a Business Improvement District, our proposal did not make it through Nevada’s 2025 legislative session,” said Andy Chapman, President and CEO of Travel North Tahoe Nevada. “Though it is clear that this is a useful community amenity that benefits residents, local businesses and visitors, what is unclear is how to secure the funding needed to sustain service. We need a durable solution - not year-to-year uncertainty - if we want a sustainable and successful microtransit system servicing residents and guests in the Washoe Tahoe region.”

WASHOE COUNTY, NV - at midday on Tuesday, a 2.2 magnitude quake was registered close to Incline Village-Crystal Bay, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 12:36 p.m. The epicenter was situated approximately 9 miles north-northwest of Incline Village-Crystal Bay, at a depth of just 1 mile. Seismologists first reported it as a 2.0 event, but later upgraded it to 2.2.

If you're in bed: Turn face-down and cover your head with a pillow.

If you're outdoors: Stay away from buildings. Don't go inside.

If you're inside: Stay and don't run outdoors. Stay away from doorways.

The best way to protect yourself during an earthquake is to drop, cover and hold on, officials say. "Wherever you are, drop down to your hands and knees and hold onto something sturdy," officials say. "If you're using a wheelchair or walker with a seat, make sure your wheels are locked and remain seated until the shaking stops." Be sure to cover your head and neck with your arms, and crawl under a sturdy table if possible. If no shelter is available, crawl to an interior wall away from windows. Once under a table, officials say you should hold on with one hand and be ready to move with it.

"There can be serious hazards after an earthquake, such as damage to the building, leaking gas and water lines, or downed power lines," officials say. "Expect aftershocks to follow the main shock of an earthquake. Be ready to Drop, Cover, and Hold On if you feel an aftershock."
