SEO Training Part 2: SERPs Insights

SERPs - Search Engine Results Pages - Part 2 of our SEO Training!

Time flies when you are having fun! We’re already on our way to Part 2 of our 7 Part SEO training!

So, if you have learned what SEO is and why it is essential, let’s not wait any longer. Today, we have something exciting for you - the SERPs.

Yes, we did mention SERPs in our previous post, but let us tell you, it is a lot more than that. The SERP is not just a list of webpage URLs; it’s a comprehensive suite of features that search engines use to render information to their users in a better way.

These SERP features are called Rich Snippets and have a broader visual appeal than generic organic search results. Meaning, they get higher click-through rates (CTRs) as users quickly get the required information in those snippets.

Let’s take a look at the standard SERP features that search engines provide.

Featured Snippet

Featured Snippets are the search engine giant’s favorite “answer boxes.” These are a part of organic search results featured on the top of them aiming to give a straight answer to the user’s query.

Placed right below the ads, these snippets provide higher brand exposure to businesses. It can be a list, a paragraph, or a table.

Answer Box

With a similar intention like featured snippets, an answer box is a light-gray box that provides a direct answer to the user’s question. If you search the father’s name of your favorite celebrity, an answer box will pop up with nothing but the name and designation of the person.

It can be anything from people and relationships to sports, places, conversions/calculators, dates/times, movies, and more.

Carousels

Carousels are sliding rows of images and videos that appear at the top of Google’s SERP. It may contain images of products, people, or anything that a user looks for. These sliders have a caption beneath every image that can be the product price or name of the person.

Image Pack and Map Pack

The image packs are a collection of images displayed as a horizontal row at any suitable place in the organic results. It’s the link to Google Images relevant to the keyword.

The Map pack involves the local pack and the local teaser pack in response to a location-specific query. While the former returns three most keyword-relevant locations (map), the latter displays three local business locations with additional information about the business.

Knowledge Graph

Knowledge Graph appears on a desktop search to the right of organic results. They are semantic data that Google extracts from sources like WikiData, Google Index, and other private partnership sites.

It contains images, descriptions, and a “People also search for” section relevant to the keyword.

Sitelinks

Sitelinks are specific to an exact domain search. When the user clearly mentions the brand intent, Google displays an extended pack of up to 10 site links that occupy five organic positions on the SERP.

These links can generate higher CTRs for your website and provide users with quick information.

People Also Ask

This section is a set of related questions that Google algorithm finds relatable to your search query. Every question in the list is answered like a featured snippet. They may have different locations in the SERP.

With related questions, the chances of winning the featured snippet are higher.

The list of SERP features goes on and on based on the search query. If you wish to rank for any of these rich snippets, contact SEO experts at Walibu. Our team is dedicated to improving your online presence over the web.
